Here is your chance to help build a sustainable community, by promoting your services, products and your community group news to people who live locally. In this way you will assist in building our Shire's self reliance by using your Community Radio and Internet site as the first base to rebuild our local BUSH TELEGRAPH.

We need to re-consider what a viable community means to itself! What is in place to help in a time of crisis, over the years its been a radio. During cyclone Alby the last means of communication was battery powered radios though the message was second hand from Bunbury. In a time of need our radio station will become your first base of contact with the front line.

Radio we will allow us to celebrate individuals and achievements or community activities on a daily basis. Something interesting happens everyday in our Shire or surrounding Shires wouldn't it be great to know? How often have you thought what am I missing out on in my community? With radio and a lot of hard work we could know a little more about some of the people in it.

Being proud of who we are as a body of individuals is important for the growth of people everywhere. We share the fun and the pain because we are a community --of extended families-- yet we do not have a channel to express our feelings or thoughts. We are passionate about our corner of the world and we should be capable of sharing more of it.

Community radio stations are springing up everywhere because they represent a local voice that understands local issues. Community broadcasting associations such as the WACBA and CCBA have fostered growth throughout Australia in community radio with 409 community Radio and TV stations funding programs and creating a vast network. The evolution in digital technologies has also made it more affordable and hence easier to establish small, yet fully functional radio studios for community broadcasting.

BridgeFM is assisting with the creation of a Centre for Excellence (in our special way). Radio and the Internet will generate a new level of community interaction, through these tools we will explore our rich diversity.

We have the technical skills and the people power to create ongoing communication for positive growth and change into 2000 its up to us to make it work. If for nothing more than the children of tomorrow.

The ongoing campaign to "Shop Local" constantly needs to be addressed. Print advertising is effective though it has a limited life, can be expensive and reaches a selective audience. Radio sponsorship is an effective personal approach that helps to convey the essence of the shop local identity. In time we will be on the air in shops, garages, schools, homes and places of employment in fact everywhere within our broadcast area. As the word spreads so will our membership and listening public. We like to know what is going on within our community yet normally get it second hand this must change!

We are at the heart of the South West, being informed is also necessary for our neighbours. Though our broadcast area is relatively small our networking capability will begin to expand. We will also help to promote community radio with our fellow communities because growing together will make us stronger as a region and increase trade across Shires.

Using media wisely creates new opportunities to promote and market Southwest products or services outside of WA. To expand our horizons by encompassing the Internet and or TV will not be beyond our capabilities in time. If you consider that North America and Europe are currently capable of viewing the Internet through their cable network on the home TV, this is also our way of the future. We no longer live in a backwater cut off from the world because of our isolation, we can deliver products within 3 days door to door anywhere in the world, we just have to be capable of getting our message out there to find the customers.

We can build a new industry in our area by using our recording specialists and electronic media via the Internet. It is possible to publish information and provide it for a South Western, Australian or Global audience from Bridgetown. To suggest that we could generate an audience of say 30 thousand plus visitors a week is not unrealistic, we have already had 250,000 viewers during our broadcast of the 2000 Blues in South East Asia alone over the three event. This was accomplished with little more than a week's promotion.
