The Music Holiday Program became a reality when the Bridgetown-Greenbushes and Boyup Brook Shires, Bridgetown Primary and High Schools, Local Drug Action Group (LDAG), Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and Bridge FM Community Radio Station, collaborated to create a most productive and enjoyable 3 days for our young people.

The coordinators Sharen Francesconi and Marie Perrier agreed that Cheryl Rich and Donna Illich did a fantastic job with the young talents aged between 8 and 18. In just one day bands were created and songs were performed ready to record over the next two days. Craig McCoy and Jamie Ternent, teachers at Bridgetown Primary grabbed the chance to come along and help the young people of the Warren Blackwood record their performances and create their very own music CD. They turned up with all the gear and worked tirelessly until all the young stars were recorded.

Then, thanks to Barb Hansen and Christian Jones of Bridge FM it was time for a funfilled and informative Workshop with Lil'Fi, Dirk Debois and Peter Hawell. Christian dismantled his recording studio in Boyup Brook and re-established it at Bridgetown High School to record the workshop. It was clear the workshop was a smash hit, everyone had a fantastic time, asked lots of questions, learnt heaps and even wrote a song that we are told is bound for the top 10.

Lil'Fi said she loved spending time with Bridgetown's young people because they are so inspired, honest and talented. It was great to catch up with members of the band SLIVED, an all girl year 10 band from Bridgetown (Anthea Shedley, Jess Gordon, Sara Patterson and Tracey Barnett) who played with Lil'Fi and the Flannies in 2000. With support from the Youth Advisory Council and Bridgetown Rotary Club this motivated group went won the GOZZY Rock competition in Perth.

During the Music Holiday Program the Lil'Fi Trio invited Alana Shedley, aged 14, to perform her original songs and join them in promoting Blues at Bridgetown during the Innovation Festival launch at Technology Park in Perth. The whole school community is proud to have had such a worthy ambassador represent our young people at such a prestigious event.
